About The UAP Atlas

The UAP Atlas is an open instrument for exploring UAP/UFO reports next to context layers you can switch on and off: earthquakes, storms, rocket launches, bright planets. You choose a time window and a pair of layers and see, honestly, whether reports cluster around anything — including ordinary explanations.

Its neutrality is the point. This is neither a believer archive nor a debunking project; it shows data and keeps the statistical pitfalls in view, which is exactly why it can be shared across both camps.

The scientific hook

There are testable, published threads here. Earthquake lightsare a documented phenomenon. In the 1980s, Persinger's Tectonic Strain Theory claimed correlations between UFO reports and seismic activity — methodologically contested, but genuinely testable. The Hessdalen lights in Norway have been scientifically monitored for decades. The atlas makes these hypotheses explorable by anyone, without pretending to settle them.

Where the data comes from

Reports are sourced from the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC) — the largest independent databank, city-level and US-weighted. We show our own short summaries and link back to each original report rather than republishing full text. Context layers come from USGS (earthquakes), NASA (lightning climatology), Launch Library 2 (rocket launches) and CelesTrak (orbital elements). Full detail and caveats live on the methodology page.

What's next

The population-normalized view, the launch/Starlink layer and the correlation explorer (with a real null model) are live. So is the report form — with a live context check that tells you if a Starlink train, a bright planet or a storm might explain what you saw, before you submit. Reports are reviewed before they appear. Coverage grows region by region; the map is global from day one. Still ahead: photo uploads, satellite-pass detection, and shareable permalinks.
